The one thing all successful people make time for...
Time to breathe, this is your time to reinvigorate your success habits. So go on, breathe in awesome and let go of mediocre- lean in because I'm about to share with you the most simple yet effective way to create your best life. How are you doing on this beautiful monday? This is your beginning to another week, a glorious-bold-adventurous week or a bland, beige uneventful week- either way its your choice so perhaps its time to write down the experiences you wish to have this week and beging now on making them happen. Remember our lives are made up of moments, and those moments are your creation, your choice, you can either fill them with the doing of things you dislike or you can colour them with the things you most love doing like walking your dog, drinking a fresh green juice, running along the beach or lounging on the couch- all your choice- this is where you find your power. So today i want to share with you story about a woman with a heart of gold and the desire to take her business to the next level, her name is Lisa. Lisa is a mother, a wife, an entrepreneur with a big heart and she is an avid dog lover. Her goal is to take her business to the level where she can retire her hard-working hubby- great goals, awesome intention and super achievable. Sounds familiar right? When i asked her how she creates her success, her response was a long list of the big names she has been listening to, what she has been watching and the results she hasn't been achiving. She went on to tell me a long list of books she has in her bookshelf and how she just so wants to bring me into her business, but something felt off. I just knew that there was something not quite right- something smelt fishy to me.... haha that old chestnut. I began to ask her what she loved about each of those books, to show me which ones have made the biggest impact, she brought out a while big pile from next to her bed - impressive books, all the ones i have either read or have ready to read. But upon looking through them i noticed those books hadn't been opened, they sat there collecting dust- no pages had been looked over or read- why? She is a strong woman, determined, with a big why. She has invested in her growth, but as those books silently communicated- she hasn't done anything with those investments... We all are guilty of doing this, buying the books recommended to us by our mentors, heck i did this for 2 years- hoping somehow that the book would magically read itself to me while secretly avoiding opening the front cover fearing the 12 year old Ellie who struggled to read books within the given timeframe, creating stress and worry and perceived failure. So i avoided the books, all that knowledge that sat right beside me, all those lessons i didn't learn because i didn't make the time to open the front cover and just start reading, but then as i grew my collection the overwhelm set in- even if i did want to begin reading- where would i begin, i had so many to choose from and each were equally important and relevant.... overwhelm and no action- great...... This was the same for Lisa and i know that you too have either had this habit or still have this habit.. lets kick it in the tooshie today. If you are still waiting for the book to hit you in the head and start reading itself to you- read on, i have just the recipe to snap out of it. Heres how i burst through procrastination and overwhelm and began growing.. and how you can too... 1) Put all your books in one spot, tidy them and make them assessable. Display them nicely. 2) Ask yourself what you most need right now? which book do you feel will give you that? if you come up with 5 narrow them down to three and then again to the priority book. This is the book you will begin reading. 3) Open the front cover and begin to read, make sure you read for at least 5 minutes right away. 3) This is the only book you are allowed to read, think about and share with people until you finish the whole thing. 4) Give yourself an ideal timeframe to read it in. I generally give myself a month now to read one book in. This works for me, for you it could be two months or three. What ever floats your boat. 5) Set yourself a reward for reading your book. A movie night, a massage or have your house cleaned by a professional. your choice, but make it inspiring. 6) Begin these steps again for your next book. Keep reading, this is the one thing all successful people do- if this is your aim- you must begin read. very important. I cannot wait to hear about your reading, please reply back with the book you have chosen, how you are going with your reading and suggest any books that you are really digging, now that you are a reader and also setting yourself up for growth and success like the big boys!! Sending you lots of love and encouragement, xx Ellie xx
