Why watching 'The Voice' could increase your income.

Sitting here watching everyday Aussies stepping up to the stage on channel 9, with a roast in the oven, the smell of slow cooked beef and potatoes and the excitement of 60 Minutes up next I realised something.

As Gen Y's we seek higher levels of happiness, we crave super levels of freedom and the ability to have it all right now- you know what I'm talking about homie, the car, the clothes and the choice to give more to our charity of choice.

We're saving for the first home, a month long vacay to Machu Picchu, India and beyond, and hope to god we achieve some savings on the side. However we have no freaking clue how the hell it will happen.....

The frustration at the end of the week because there's little to no savings left over, makes it even harder waking up to an alarm clock- come Monday morning- just.  that.  little.  bit.  more.  disappointing..

This cycle of wake up to an alarm clock, hit snooze x 5, get up, coffee x 2, boring commute to work, home, food, TV, sleep x 6 hours, wish for the weekend,  x5 all of that- you get my drift- has become normal for most Gen y's.

The average 'normal' of Millennials is... well average.

As humans (especially us Gen y, Millennials) we've been conditioned to think that success comes down to two things.... hard work and dedication.

Yet at the same time we've watched success, time and time again played out to us in a way that portrays these people having had some streak of luck, they were born into their greatness or just fell into their roles overnight- a breeze it seems.

What a contradiction.

And there are more definitions of success out there that again contradict themselves...

'The Voice' although totally cheesy at times, (and not the choice of most boyfriends out there- I may add) will show us the back story of the contestant, the story that most 'successful' people don't get the chance to tell (without the labels. slander or judgement that is).

"I was sad, broke and unhappy then I made a choice, the choice to break free and try my luck on a singing contest that I've always dreamed of being on."

These are the stories (yes subtly over told, sometimes exaggerated) that we need to be modelling if we are to break free  of the normal and into living life on our terms.

These are the people who's lives are changing because they decided to make a choice- the choice to try on a new normal. Yes they don't all win, I get that. But because of their courage, their willingness to take their dream and turn it into a reality, they have created a new normal.... and let me tell you homie, this is the same courage and willingness it takes for the viewers at home to break free of their average normal.

So yes rockstar, you're current normal doesn't have to be your normal. All you need is courage, a dream and choice.

When you decide to choose a new normal, you hold the key to a door so many have hoped to walk through. You hold the key to success.

Make a decision to choose a new normal, by doing so guarantee a long term increase of you income, prolonged fulfilment and a freedom so many wish for but few have grasped.

Go on and fulfil your new normal ✌🏼
